Houndshill Hit It Off In The Rain!

The official opening celebrations of the brand new Houndshill Shopping Centre took place on Saturday 6th September. Despite the typical English weather, the fun events during the course of the day were a great success!

Houndshill celebrations commenced at 12pm with a seaside themed parade through Blackpool Town Centre led by centre management, John Holt and Gaynor Holland. The parade party comprised of local samba band, Poco Loco and various community groups, such as Paul Nicholas School of Acting and Sure Start Clifton St Community group.

In the afternoon, International music artist, Natasha Hamilton from Atomic Kitten wowed the crowds on the giant Radio Wave stage on Adelaide St West and gave the crowd a sample of her brand new solo songs, and obviously we couldnt let her go without the great Atomic Kitten tunes. Supporting the star, was a previous X Factor finalist, Anthony Hannah who was a member of Liverpudlian band, Eton Road. Anthony treated us to two cover songs, which he surely did them justice!

Throughout the day, there was a number of entertainment and events that attracted the crowds and kept children fully entertained. Our own 'real' beach inside Houndshill Shopping Centre provided children with the opportunity to build sandcastles, it was also used by members of the Blackpool Youth Volleyball Team. Our resident seagulls also attended to meet and greet the crowds.

On behalf of Modus and Houndshill Shopping Centre, we would like to officially thank everyone that has taken part in allHoundshill celebrations. It has been a joy to host such events in a town where people really take part and have some fun!

Thanks again and see you on 15th November for the Christmas Lights Switch On!
